Academic Innovations named Roger Haserot Teacher of the Year in 2009 for his dedication to a semester-long Career Choices course he combined with computer information literacy in a program called Freshman Orientation at Mt. Diablo High School in Northern California.

In addition to serving as the school's Career Choices lead teacher and School Site Executive for My10yearPlan.com®, Roger was also the career and technology chair, school webmaster, and site coordinator for Carl Perkins funding.

In 2008, the former private high school principal opted out of retirement after being inspired to teach Career Choices as a means by which to "save freshmen." Of the year he says, "It was the most difficult, most challenging year, but the most exciting and satisfying of my teaching career."
