Olympic Gold Medalist Dain Blanton became the first ever African American to
win an AVP Beach Volleyball tournament in 1997, winning the AVP Hermosa
Beach Grand Slam before bringing home a gold medal from the Sydney 2000
Olympics. He also returned to the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, becoming
the first and only male beach volleyball player to represent the United
States in two Olympic Games. Dain continues to break new ground and hopes to
inspire and motivate others to create opportunities for the next generation.
Dain's keynote address will leave you with a powerful story you can recount
for your students as a real-life example of how a vision, when coupled with
energy and perseverance, leads to success. |

Bossier High School may not be the largest high school in Louisiana, but the 194 students in the
freshman class face challenges common to ninth graders across the country. In May 2009, the
Bossier High School administration, with the support of the Bossier Parish School System,
decided to enroll all freshmen in a Freshman Transition class. This session walks you through the
first year of their program. |
